What Verifiers Do

Verifiers are subject-matter experts who review guide submissions. When someone submits a guide in a subject you're qualified in:

  • You may be randomly selected for the jury
  • You review the guide independently
  • You provide a written vote (approve or reject) with explanation
  • The collective jury decision determines if the guide gets verified

Verification is voluntary — you only review when selected and have time. There's no minimum commitment.

How to Qualify

To become a verifier, you need to demonstrate expertise in a subject:

1

Choose a subject

Select the subject where you have verifiable knowledge and experience.

2

Pass the qualification test

Take a subject-specific test that proves you understand the material at an advanced level.

3

Get verified

Once you pass, you're added to the verifier pool for that subject.

Verifier Responsibilities

As a verifier, you agree to:

  • Review guides honestly and thoroughly
  • Provide written explanations for your votes
  • Decline reviews where you have a conflict of interest
  • Maintain confidentiality about guides under review
  • Recuse yourself if you're unable to provide a fair review

Review Standards

Verifiers evaluate guides on:

Accuracy

Is the information technically correct? Would a skilled practitioner agree?

Completeness

Does it cover all necessary steps? Would a beginner be able to complete the task?

Prerequisite Compliance

Does it only assume knowledge from lower-level guides? Does it properly link prerequisites?

Clarity

Is it written clearly? Are instructions unambiguous?

Method Validity

Are all documented methods actually workable? Would they produce the described result?

Apply to Become a Verifier

For now, verifier applications are handled through the content repository.

  1. Open an issue on the content repository using the verifier application template
  2. Describe your expertise and experience in the relevant subject
  3. We'll work with you to arrange a qualification test

The qualification process is being refined. Once fully implemented, there will be a standardized test system for each subject.
